Registration and control of access during ship maintenance

Control, register, manage and monitor personnel and visitors on the ship De Afrika during maintenance.

Shipping company Jaczon is a leading international player in fishing, fish processing and transport of chilled and frozen products. Seven fishing vessels of the Scheveningen fleet of shipping company Jaczon catch the fish of Scheveninger Best, the first brand of Dutch fresh fish.

The stern trawler SCH-24 Africa, one of Jaczon's fishing vessels, is in Vlissingen for maintenance at Damen Ship Repair Vlissingen. The refrigeration and freezer systems need to be converted. To register and control who enters the ship during this maintenance, access control is required.

Jaczon engaged IQ-Pass to set up the access control system for the Safety & Security of the ship, the Afrika. Control, registration, control and monitoring of personnel and visitors on the Afrika are central to this, with the aim of optimum safety and minimising risks.

IQ-Pass' Control Gate XL realises access control and registration of staff and visitors for Jaczon. In addition to the two turnstiles, there is also a walking gate that provides access to people with small tools, among other things, and also offers an extra escape route in case of calamities. The integrated porter's lodge with fixed desk is ideal for monitoring all persons entering through the turnstiles.

In addition to the hardware, GoWorkforce Professional Online was implemented at Jaczon, to create personalised passes giving access to the gate. Jaczon can now view hour reports and print real-time contingency lists, as well as see exactly who, what, where and when is on the Africa.

The solution makes it possible to grant access to 1,200 visitors per hour. This level of efficiency ensures time and cost savings for Jaczon. Staff are on the shop floor smoothly and the access pass also eliminates the need to sign in every time.

The GoWorkforce platform limits risks with regard to legislation and regulations, such as checks on A1 certificates, work permits, but also the Working Hours Act and the Dutch Chain and Liability Act. All staff and visitors are checked for the required data and documents, preventing unauthorised access. GoWorkforce provides a clear overview of all pass users, showing their hours and thus their productivity.
